Since I was very young, we used to have annual family trips to a tiny island with a lighthouse. We would wait for the high tide to fish, marinate the food for a BBQ, exchange scary stories, play deafening family games and basically take a breather facing the wide ocean. Now the island's under a different management and they don't allow guests in anymore. It was like our home away from home, our escape from the hectic yet humdrum life in Singapore. I really miss the place.
